Jonathan Marshall

Jonathan Marshall, a Mobius Executive Coach, is an assistant professor and specialist in leadership studies at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore. He trains senior and upcoming public administrators in Asia to attain greater interpersonal understanding and self-awareness as a means to successful leadership.

By training, Jonathan is a clinical psychologist and a naval officer. He did his post-doctoral work at the Harvard Business School, helping faculty, staff, and students to actualize their potential and to pursue peak performance in their fields. In the Singapore Navy, Jonathan managed over 100 people and he was assistant commander to a rapidly changing amphibious squadron. He identified potential leaders and mentored them for positions of responsibility. He was given awards for his conduct. Familiar with leadership issues beyond the public sector and military, Jonathan has worked for Yahoo! and a successful internet start-up.

He has an international background and significant experience working in cross-cultural environments. Jonathan has lived for more than six years in Singapore, France, the United Kingdom, and also the United States. His formal training in human potential comes from his doctorate in psychology at Stanford University.

Jonathan has contributed to his field via several published articles and academic papers including the book chapter “Persuasive Computing: Using Technology to Change Attitudes and Behaviors,” edited in J. P. P. Dillard, M. (Ed.), The Persuasion Handbook: Theory and Practice published by Sage. He has given talks “Mediation: Contributions from Clinical Psychology” given at Exploring Alternative Mind States: What Other Fields Have to Offer Mediation, Harvard Negotiation Insight Initiative, Harvard Law School, Harvard University and “Facilitating Human Potential Through Eastern and Western Psychological Approaches” given at Religion, Health, and Healing Initiative, Harvard Divinity School, Harvard University.

Jonathan earned his PhD in Counseling Psychology (APA approved program) from Stanford University and his BA in Psychology from Stanford University where he specialized in Psychology of Groups and Organizations. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Society for Clinical Experimental Hypnosis and speaks English, French, and Malay (broken). Jonathan has a passion for mountain biking, hiking, endurance sports, and traveling.
