Kathy Holub is a lawyer and consultant based in New York. She teaches negotiation at Columbia Law School and Harvard Law School. Her clients include lawyers, financial regulators, entrepreneurs, corporate executives, nurses, jewelers, crisis communications specialists, and others who want to improve their negotiation skills. She also coaches individual clients on high-stakes negotiations involving both business and family issues.
She regularly presents programs on “Women and Negotiation” for clients and at the New York City Bar Association. She has provided editorial consulting on two major books in the field.
Before entering the legal profession, Kathy was a widely published journalist. She was a staff writer at the Delta Democrat-Times in Greenville, MS, and then at the San Jose Mercury News, where she shared a Pulitzer Prize in General News Reporting. She was the recipient of a Knight Fellowship at Stanford University, where she spent a year studying law and religion. Her work has appeared in many other publications, including The New York Times and TIME.
Kathy received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University and her law degree from Yale Law School. She clerked for the then-Hon. Sonia Sotomayor on the U.S. District Court in the Southern District of New York. She practiced law for two years at a New York firm before moving into teaching and consulting.
Kathy enjoys cooking, sailing, and admiring antique rugs. She is currently learning Italian and goes to Italy as often as possible.
