Alex Eunkyeong Yu

Alex is an executive coach and organizational development consultant who focuses primarily on global leadership development, executive team development, intercultural management, communication, emotional intelligence, and other subjects related to organizational effectiveness. She uses a wide range of modalities in her leadership development work, including mindfulness and somatics.  She has worked with C-suite/senior-level executives across a wide range of sectors including consumer products, luxury, hospitality, financial services, pharmaceuticals, and technology. Alex has worked as a coach and consultant with consulting firms in both Korea and China and is a faculty member for an evidence-based coaching program at a coaching firm in Shanghai.

Alex works with clients to help them clarify their goals, identify the drivers they need to engage, and then supports them to strengthen their competencies and expand their versatility so that they can be successful in different cultural contexts. One of Alex’s clients, an executive advisor to the CEO of an international investment firm, said that her services provide “an especially high value to international executives as they address the complex communication and leadership issues of managing on foreign soil.”

Alex is an ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and a Korean Facilitators Association Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF). She is certified to administer a number of different psychometric tools including Hogan Assessments, The Leadership Circle 360, CCL’s 360 Assessment, the Immunity to Change Map, and other competency-related assessments. She is the lead author of Cultural Detective: East Asia, a web-based intercultural training tool that illustrates both the similarities and differences of the Chinese, Japanese, and Korean cultures.  Alex presents regularly at business events and international conferences throughout Asia.

Alex holds both a PhD and a MA in Human and Organizational Systems from Fielding Graduate University, and an MBA in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management with the honors of Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Sigma Iota. She also has a MA and BA in English Literature from Ewha Womans University in Seoul. She has lived and worked in the US and China, and is now based in Seoul, Korea. Fluent in Korean and English, she also once spoke decent Japanese.
