Barbara Kataisto

Barbara is a business coach who has extensive experience working with clients on organizational and people-related issues, in both emerging and established markets. She is deeply committed to enabling personal and professional development with her international clientele. Barbara has lived and worked in 7 countries and has travelled extensively in the Americas, EMEA and Asia for both personal and professional expeditions.
Barbara is an entrepreneur at heart as demonstrated continuously through her work. She was one of the first pioneers on the ground when a top tier consultancy opened offices in the former Eastern Bloc; has conceived, created and rolled-out company-wide global leadership development rotational programs; and has been involved in working with start-up enterprises, most recently in the New York area. Through leadership cultivation, cross-cultural expertise, and a far-reaching organizational and business mindset and background, her deep insights on both business and human matters continue to help individuals make a difference.
She has coached senior executives as well as hundreds of young professionals around the world on a carte du jour of personal, cultural, and professional topics. She develops a deep connection with her clients who often remain not only colleagues but also life-long friends.
Barbara spent 15+ years in talent-focused and leadership development roles at McKinsey & Company, an international management consultancy and has worked independently as a coach and with start-up enterprises on tailored, personal, professional and/or organizational journeys.
Barbara is certified in the Overseas Assignment Inventory (OAI) as Assessor for International Assignments, certified to run intercultural sessions using frameworks learned at Crossing Cultures with Competence and qualified to administer the MBTI. She also has experience with the Hogan Personality Inventory and Birkman Method as well as participated in the Conversations with Masters on coaching & intervention skills run by Mobius Executive Leadership.
Barbara has basic Russian and Finnish language skills and is an avid outdoors person, enjoying horseback riding, biking, skiing, and jogging. She has completed a Triathlon, summited Mt. Rainer and is looking to do a half Marathon next Spring.
Barbara holds a Masters of Organizational Psychology with emphasis on Organizational Behavior, Leadership and Human Resources from Columbia University.
