Frieda Edgette

Frieda brings to her clients over 15 years of coaching leadership and organizational excellence. Her broad reaching background spans high-tech, healthcare, professional services, telecommunications, higher education, politics, government and other industries nationally and internationally. Her knowledge and abilities help those she coaches to achieve their professional goals, execute strategic initiatives, build high-performing teams and lead through ongoing change successfully and sustainably. She is viewed as an individual who can balance inspiration and objectivity, while driving accountability.

Frieda excels at helping each of her clients discover and leverage their authentic leadership style by facilitating both mindset training and skills strengthening. She has lead more than 200 cross-sector change initiatives in five continents, and advised more than 2,000 leaders – from emerging to C-Suite executives – through uncharted environments while optimizing performance and well-being simultaneously. She has successfully coached leaders to be powerful change champions and to build high-performing teams amid uncertainty at such organizations as Vodafone, Investec, URS, Sutter Health, Kaiser Permanente , the U.S. Air Force, Office of Leadership and Organizational Development in Office of the Secretary of Defense Policy, U.S. Embassy in Turkey, Tata Consultancy Services, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Clean Energy Storage Alliance, Peralta Community College District, San Francisco Unified School District, Enroll America, Organizing for Action, Onward Together, Vital Voices, Playworks, Save the Bay and others.

Frieda is on the faculty of The George Washington University Graduate School of Political Management, teaching a bleeding-edge course on stereotypes and politics. She also designed and instructs a course on resilient leadership at Stanford University Continuing Studies – the first of its kind.

Believing strongly in the importance of giving back, Frieda is a former county commissioner and the founder of Courage to Run, the nation’s premier nonpartisan running series and civic leadership community committed to being healthy to lead effectively.

She has appeared on C-SPAN Washington Journal, Fox News and Women’s Running and has published in the Harvard Business ReviewThe Hill, GOVERNING, Mindful, US News & World Report, European Heart Journal, Roll Call, POLITICO, Women2.0 and Campaigns & Elections on leadership, strategy, resilience and mindfulness. She is a sought-after speaker and trainer on powerfully leading, leveraging diversity, and managing change in unpredictable environments.

Frieda has her MSc in Organizational and Social Psychology from the London School of Economics and Political Science and her BA in Political Science, with minors in History and Women Culture and Development from University of California, Santa Barbara.

Frieda is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the ICF, and a Co-Active Professional Certified Coach. She is also certified in Group Facilitation with ILM.

Frieda lives in Silicon Valley with her husband and son. She enjoys dabbling in extreme sports, traveling near and far, mentoring women civic leaders and cooking with avocados.
