Robert Goldberg

Robert has, for the past thirty years, worked with executives and their teams to improve their effectiveness and drive better results in industries ranging from high-tech to industrial manufacturing, from consumer electronics to academic medical centers, from global professional societies to hedge funds, etc.

Regardless of milieu, Robert is gifted at seeing what others don’t see, and saying what others are afraid to say. In short, Robert is a versatile consultant, whose theoretical grounding, practical approach, and facilitation skills are called upon for a variety of complex and sensitive organizational and leadership development needs.

Robert’s coaching philosophy took shape as a young professional working for a global engineering firm where he was immersed in the principles of Gestalt Consulting, in which ‘consultant presence’ and the subtle dynamics of the coaching interaction are central to the engagement. Robert was so successful at this firm that they ‘hired him out’ to support other organizations’ leaders.

After his experience as an internal consultant, Robert’s next significant career influence came at the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), the premier leadership education and research institution in the United States, where he led their Change Leadership and Senior Team Leadership practice areas. At CCL, Robert absorbed the essential role of leader development through self-awareness and feedback, which he practices to this day. Robert also became certified in a variety of personality assessment tools and 360 degree feedback instruments, such as the Hogan, the Strength Deployment Inventory, WorkPlace Big5, the FIRO-B, Benchmarks, the Leadership Versatility Index, Executive Dimensions, the Leadership Agility 360, etc.

In 1998, Robert accepted a 2 year retainer contract with a global spirits company, which led to him opening his own consulting firm.  For the past 21 years, Robert’s firm has helped organizations build their leadership capacity through executive level coaching and high-performing team development strategies.

Robert’s clients have included Roche Pharmaceuticals, Macy’s, Riverbed Technology, Inc., the University of North Carolina School of Business, AbbVie Pharmaceuticals, JELD-WEN, Inc., Michael Kors, Sealed Air, the American Society for Mechanical Engineering, Wake Forest University Health Sciences, 2U, Primo Water, TrueBridge Capital Management, Owens-Corning, TIAA-CREF, and several others.

Robert has published numerous articles in nationally recognized organizational development publications, including the Organization Development Journal, Leader to Leader, the OD Practioner, Issues & Observations, BizLife Magazine, and others.

Robert received his MBA in Organizational Psychology from City University of New York, and his BA in Psychology from the SUNY at Binghamton. When not working with clients, you can find Robert at home in Greensboro, North Carolina, playing his guitar, hitting tennis balls, and cooking dinner, or you might find him wandering through the great art museums of the world, where he indulges his twin passions of travel and fine art.
