Sylvana Caloni

Sylvana Caloni is a leadership consultant, executive coach, trainer and facilitator of peer advisory circles.

Sylvana works with her clients to make the invisible visible; to develop self-knowledge and to become aware of how their presence, behaviours, values and attitudes impact others. She also assists them to appreciate the nuances of the different working and communication styles of their culturally diverse teams. Her clients become more flexible leaders, able to listen more deeply and to have conversations that create greater understanding and collaboration.

Sylvana was commissioned to write My Win Your Loss or The Zero Sum Game: The Mindset of Financial Markets Executives for the International Journal of Coaching In Organizations™ and has been featured on panels discussing leadership as well as diversity and inclusion.

Sylvana established her business in London in 2004, following a 15-year career in global investment banking. She was the first female equity analyst and portfolio manager at Bankers Trust Australia. In her role as Executive Vice President, she was responsible for global equity research teams and had access to hundreds of C-suite executives across a range of international industries and geographies. With these insights and perspectives, she was able to distill the essence of successful business management, leadership and stock market performance.

Sylvana brings this wealth of experience and leading-edge training in learning and development to her coaching engagements with executives. Sylvana’s clients often have been promoted because of their expertise and subject knowledge but have blind spots and narrow perspectives that hinder how they engage with multiple stakeholders.

Sylvana was President of Women in Banking and Finance (WIBF) from 2011 to 2014. She also managed the flagship Personal Excellence Programme. Sylvana was a member of the Diversity Advisory Panel to the Lord Mayor of the City of London in 2013-14 and was a member of the Tomorrow’s Company Global Leadership Forum where she contributed to the report Tomorrow’s Global Leaders: How to Build A Culture That Ensures Women Reach The Top.

Sylvana is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC)™ with the International Coach Federation and has her certification in Conversational Intelligence®.   She has also completed Organization and Relationship Systems Coaching (ORSC)™. Sylvana has a diploma in Coaching Excellence in Organizations (CEO)™ and certificates in Cultural Transformation Tools® and Executive Team Alignment.  She earned her B.Ec (Hons) and M.Ec (Hons) from the University of Sydney.

Sylvana’s interest in learning and teaching was instilled as an economics tutor at the University of Sydney and she is passionate about creating opportunities for disadvantaged children. She was a mentor to the residents of The Rugby Portobello Trust and is a Trustee of the Friends of the Rose Bowl, a Youth Centre.

Sylvana is an avid reader, photographer and cook. Whilst she doesn’t regard herself as sporty, she has abseiled the Lloyd’s Building, gone white water rafting and enjoys the thrill of a zip wire.

Sylvana lives in London and holds a dual citizenship of Italy and Australia.  She speaks conversational Italian.
